Integrated Residency (I6) Case
Requirements for Junior Years (PGY 1-3)
Effective for I-6 Residents who started their training between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2017
PGY 1-3: Residents must have 375 operations averaged over 3 years of which 125 must be cardiothoracic operations, up to 50 which may be component cases that include sternotomy and closure, thoracotomy and closure, LIMA takedown, saphenous vein harvest, aortic and venous cannulation, proximal and distal anastomisis, other vascular anatomosis, gastric/esophageal mobilization.
PGY 4-6: Residents must have 125 major cardiothoracic cases for each year, for a total of 375 major cases (see Index Case Requirements for distribution).
PGY 1-6: Residents must have at least 150 ABS index cases, which comes from the list below.
